Precomark represents manufacturers producing a wide range of precision components for surgical instruments and systems including:

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics:

Offering the surgical field radiolucency (X-ray transparency), lower weight for equivalent strength, excellent chemical resistance and steam sterilization durability, Carbon Fiber Reinforced PEEK and other medical grade polymers are being utilized on new designs and applications particularly for orthopedics.  Typical applications include handheld instruments, targeting guides for intramedullary nailing, retractor systems and patient positioning systems. The short fiber versions of these polymers and be injection molded and extruded. The long-fiber versions can be machined, compression molded, pultruded or pull-wound for tubing.

Surgical drill bits, reamers, pins, wires and staples:

These components, which can be either single-use or reusable, are precision machined and precision ground components that are integral to orthopedic and dental surgeries. They are typically made from Stainless Steel (17/4; 17/7; 300 and 400 series) as well as Titanium, Cobalt-Chrome and Nitinol. They can be manufactured with solid or cannulated (gun-drilled or using cannulated stock) shafts. Specific standard or custom point, fluting, drive configurations and finishes as well as coatings and laser or electrochemical markings are used to create the optimal design for the procedure and device.

Single-use plastic surgical instruments:

To support the increasing use of ASCs, (Ambulatory Surgical Centers) and to minimize infection risk due to incomplete sterilization, the demand for single-use instruments is on the increase.  The most demanding of these are single-use surgical instruments are those with the high stiffness and strength requirements that can be used in Orthopedic surgery. The relatively small usage requirements as well as the ability to combine injection molding and machining and the knowledge of materials such as PEEK, PAEK, Radel and IXEF results in the need for a particularly skilled and responsive supplier.
